About Time

I’m turning 30 years old in a couple of days. 30 years – that’s already quite a long time to have lived! And through all the ups and downs I can say with certainty that I have had an extraordinary life so far. Especially the last two years have changed my life in ways I would have never expected. The past two years have brought me back to life, have allowed me to rediscover myself and come closer to my dreams.

So what do you do when you realize that all the really big dreams you have always had for yourself, that you didn’t dare to voice loudly but still dreamed about before you went to sleep at night, are finally coming true or are in the making? What do you do when you realize you’ve had an absolutely wonderful, exciting ride up until now and that there might be something even more amazing ahead of you?

It’s that wonderful moment in time when a warm, fuzzy feeling spreads in your chest and a small voice whispers that you have finally arrived in so many ways…

Don’t wait for the perfect moment. Take the moment and make it perfect.

Time – the indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present and future regarded as a whole. This evasive concept that keeps everything from happening at once, that we oftentimes take for granted. It’s one of our most precious commodities, which so many people unfortunately only realize when there is only limited time left. And I’m not only talking about a definite, possibly abrupt goodbye such as death. But you might have limited time with the people you love, because you’re moving somewhere else. You feel that your current love is slipping away and you have to learn to let go. Or you might be growing apart from a friend you used to spend so much time with. These are all moments when we realize how precious time, especially with a special someone, can be.

What continuously escapes our attention regarding this concept is that we all have limited time on this beautiful planet Earth and we don’t really know how much time we will get to breathe, live and love.

So don’t waste your time waiting for the perfect time, your time, to come along.
When I have that job, then I will.
Or when I have lost 10 pounds, then I will.
When I’m done with my place, then I will.
No! The time to do it, whatever it may be, it’s here right now!

Take this precious life that you’ve been given and fill it with moments that make you happy to be alive. Look around you with eyes of appreciation for the little things. Don’t wait for whatever it is you still need in order to get started, but know that this special time is now.

When we were little and a birthday was approaching, Christmas or any other great event, time couldn’t pass quickly enough and it seemed that time was stopping instead of moving along. For a child, this can be frustrating. It’s difficult to make children understand how precious this great gift of slowly passing time is, especially when you’re looking forward to something. When we grow older, time starts to move quicker and it doesn’t stop; it flashes by so much more quickly every single year that we grow older. Anticipating is something we start to treasure.

Time spent with someone we love unfortunately goes by much quicker compared to spending it doing something you’re not so keen on doing. So let’s treasure the moments that fly by and take our breath away and take them whenever they sneak up on us. And make sure you recognize them, cause sometimes they tend to hide in the simplest things.

And suddenly you just know it’s time to start something new and trust the magic of new beginnings.

So there are many new beginnings…a new friendship, a new job, a new city. But a new love is probably the most exhilarating of them all. Cherish that moment when the world slows down when that special person looks into your eyes. Enjoy the slow flutter of your heart and the sensation of your lips touching making you forget all your troubles and allowing you to be just in that one moment with that special person.
Time stands still. How often does that happen to you? And then, it’s gone…
So if you love someone, if you like someone, if you appreciate someone…what’s holding you back from letting them know?

As Mark Twain so rightly put it. In twenty years from now you will most definitely be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do or at least try than by the things you did do. So always opt for the possibility that might scare you, but might also be the most rewarding experience you will ever have. Throw off the bowlines and sail away from the safe harbor. I know, scary, because we don’t know how to navigate in new waters. But you will learn. You will explore, you may dream and you will most definitely discover something new about yourself.

You might have to swim in that very cold water for a while if things aren’t going the way you expect them to. But always remember that it wasn’t a waste of time if you learned something. Time cannot only heal wounds, but it might also give you answers to questions that you’ve been seeking for quite some time.

“I just try to live every day as if I’ve deliberately come back to this one day, to enjoy it, as if it was the final day of my extraordinary, ordinary life.”
„We’re all traveling through time together, every day of our lives. All we can do is our best to relish this remarkable ride.“
Tim from “About Time”

So live every single second.
Stop to smell the flowers and try to see something positive in every experience.
Be grateful for the time that you’ve been granted and the wonderful people that you may embark on this journey with.
Some things do need time, such as healing, falling in love or allowing to forgive yourself and others.
But if you know something in your heart to be true, make sure that you act on that, no matter what!

To enjoying our time to the fullest!
