Why Christmas Makes Me Happy

I love Christmas.
It’s always been my favorite season, because it wraps the world in a mantle of love and childlike imagination unlike any other time of the year.  Though it’s something so intangible it’s still present every single year during the holiday season and it sticks to you like a fragrance does. Most importantly though, it’s a time of love. I don’t think I’ve ever seen as much love at one time as during the holidays.
„Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy.”
Editorial of New York Sun
This is one of my favorite Christmas quotes, as it shows that this time of the year is about a feeling. I think most of us know that Santa doesn’t really exist. However, I still believe in the magic of Christmas, as you can find it in the people.
One of my favorite Christmas movies of all time is Miracle on 34th Street. The story backs this quote up beautifully. Watch it if you haven’t seen it!
I hope you feel the Christmas spirit this year, that it fills you up and that you spread it a little as well so people who have lost touch with their inner child may find that feeling rekindled.
Christmas Gift Suggestions
To your enemy, forgiveness.
To an Opponent, tolerance.
To a friend, your heart.
To all, charity.
To every child, a good example.
To yourself, respect.

Christmas isn’t really about the presents. Though it’s really nice to unwrap a present and bask in the anticipation – and don’t get me wrong, I love myself a surprise a lot! – there are presents worth so much more than the ones you can buy with money.
Forgiveness is something that you also give to yourself as you learn to let go of resentment, a negative feeling that will only harm you in the long-run.
Everyone deserves compassion, understanding and kindness and ultimately those are gifts you give the entire world and yourself, as it’s proven that compassionate people make for happier people.
Giving your heart to someone is one of the most precious gifts you give. So choose wisely and do it over and over again. Because the world needs more love.
Giving back will give you so much more in return, as scientific research has shown that people who are willing to help others tend to lead happier lives.
Children are the future. So show them what life is about – that it’s meant to be lived happily.
And last but not least that important love called self-love, which is the most precious love affair you’ll ever enter. Treat yourself with as much respect as you would treat a friend or your partner. Because you deserve it!
Christmas is forever, not for just one day,
for loving, sharing, giving, are not to put away
like bells and lights and tinsel, in some box upon a shelf.
The good you do for others is good you do yourself…
Norman Wesley Brooks, “Let Every Day Be Christmas,” 1976
I would love to see that special movement of love and giving that’s present during the holidays throughout the rest of the year as well! The world needs more of that unconditional love and compassion.
Gifts of time and love are surely the basic ingredients of a truly merry Christmas.

Yes, those are two other beautiful gifts to give on Christmas!
Time is one of the most valuable commodities we have, as our days are numbered and we really don’t know how numbered. So if someone gives you the gift of their time make sure to see the unique value.
And  the gift of love is the best thing you’ll ever give and receive. Being loved by someone for who you are is one of the most beautiful gifts and feelings there is.
And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so?  It came without ribbons.  It came without tags.  It came without packages, boxes or bags.  And he puzzled and puzzled ’till his puzzler was sore.  Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before.  What if Christmas, he thought, doesn’t come from a store.  What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more.

May your Christmas mean a little more, be extra special, filled completely with love, wonderful people, delicious food and lots of warmth.
A merry merry Christmas to you and your loved ones.
Stay happy & beautiful,
