Seeing the positive in the negative isn’t always easy. We live in a culture that’s obsessed with success. So much, that for so many of us winning and being perfect seems like the only option. While this can give you the motivation and drive you need, this fixation also creates a fear of failure.
Sometimes the fear is so big that people won’t even try anymore. And if we try and fail it’s a disaster.
However, failure is an inevitable part of life and our failures are some of the most important life lessons.
Let’s take a look at how we can see the positive in the negative here:
- Failure makes you stronger and more resilient.
J.K. Rowling was turned down by 12 publishing houses before she became one of the most successful authors of our time. So keep going.
- Trying new things is always risky.
But instead of avoiding failure, embrace it, as it will help you learn how to do it better in the future and turn that failure into a success.
- You can turn it into a success if you choose to learn from it.
It’s our attitude towards the failure that is important. You can choose to learn from an experience, be grateful for the lesson and turn what you learned into a success in the future. It will take some time, but if you won’t let that failure get in your way you will get the rewards for pulling through.
- Get curious.
Find out why something didn’t work out. There’s always a reasons and you can take that learning and turn it into success the second time around.
- Failure brings new opportunity.
When one door closes another door or a window will open for you. Just make sure you’re receptive to it instead of focusing too much on what you’ve lost. Failure is the opportunity to begin again and more intelligently this time around.
- The master has failed more times than the beginner has tried.
Failure is part of success. You need to fail to become a master.
- Success and failure aren’t separate things.
They are two sides of the same coin. The one cannot exist without the other.
- Failure makes you courageous.
You have left your comfort zone, you chose to look fear in the eye and insist on following your dreams. That is courage and will help you to do it again in the future.
- Keep trying.
Get up. Dust yourself of. And fail all over again. Until you get it right.
- Don’t play it safe.
Step out of your comfort zone. Don’t restrict yourself out of fear. The great successes happen when you have enough courage to pursue your vision.
And when nothing else helps, I have learned to dance in the rain.
Very liberating if you ask me…
